The HWT-121O, for Easy Viewing in Bright Light
With a display that is easily viewed even in bright sunlight, the HWT-121O touchscreen monitor can be used in a wide variety of outdoor applications. The outdoor display of the HWT-121O is comparable to that of a similar monitor under indoor lighting conditions. Caltron Industries achieves this outstanding display visibility by equipping the HWT-121O with:
• An LCD panel with a brightness of up to 1,000 nits, a measure of light intensity. Typical 12.1-inch indoor displays are around 250 nits.
• Optical bonding, which is optional with the HWT-121O. The optical bonding process seals a treated glass panel to the display to cut down on reflected light, as well as block out dust and moisture, without increasing energy consumption.
• Sensor software that automatically adjusts display brightness according to ambient light.
• State-of-the-art brightness enhancement that reduces energy use by as much as 20 percent while eliminating the implementation of harmful mercury vapor, a feature of conventional CCFL backlighting.
The HWT-121O and companion models HWT-121OR and HWT-121OC continue a strong tradition of quality 12.1-inch touchscreen monitors manufactured by Caltron Industries. The 12.1 was among the earliest monitors built by the company.
As Caltron engineers made improvements over the years, our 12.1-inch touchscreen monitors became ubiquitous in banking, aerospace, military, and especially kiosk applications. A 12.1-inch touchscreen monitor introduced by Caltron Industries in 2015 also became popular for indoor use.
The outdoor version of that product, the HWT-121O takes display technology to a higher level.
A Touchscreen Monitor Designed for the Outdoors
Readability under bright conditions is just one reason the HWT-121O is well-suited for outdoor use.The touchscreen monitor is also ruggedly built to withstand near-constant use. A 2mm-thick metal tray provides solid support for the LCD panel.
Optional tough “anti-vandal” glass provides additional protection from rough usage and the elements, including scratches, temperature fluctuations, and humidity.
Two Touch Options for the HWT-121O
Caltron offers two touch options for the HWT-121O, depending on how the monitor will be used:• Projected capacitive. Common in personal devices such as smartphones, P-Cap responds to the conductivity of the human body. Displays can be manipulated using a finger, or several fingers.
• Resistive single-touch responds to the touch of a finger and also a gloved finger or stylus. It costs a bit less than other touch technologies.
